The Codex is the basis for every wordpress research. I sometimes call it the “php manual” for wordpress, every function is very well documented and a great ressource for developer.

Not onlytutorials for wordpress, but for graphic desgin as well. Some great tutorials which are very well explained.

WordPress TV

Some great wordpress screencasts, from theme development to “how to use the 123 plugin”. Definitely worth to checkout if you are a beginner and diving into wordpress.

Wp Beginner

Great ressources, good tutorials, a site which I found only recently. Definitely a great bookmark!

WPCandy

WPCandy offer great tutorials for some “uncommon” wordpress uses, such as using it as a CMS, a freelancing platform and so on. One of the most popular wordpress sites.

WPEngineer

Similar to Wprecipes, they offer some great tutorials.

Classipress allows you to setup a classified ads listing website in less them half an hour. All you have to do is:

• have a plain install of wordpress
• buy Classipress, upload it to your wordpress theme folder and activate it.
• adjust settings.

It’s easy as that. and the feature list is not-ending, here just a few core features:

• Paypal Integration (optional, you can ask for a listing fee)
• Auto Expire Ads
• Sucategory Box
• Email Notification Form
• Seller Contact Form
• Google Maps Integration
• Google Analytics Built-in
• Google Adsense Built-in
• and a lot more…

The pretty good thing in my opinion is the good support forum on the website, so even if you run into troubles (which I nearly exclude due to the really straight-forward use of Classipress) you get nearly instant answers to any questions.

There is an impressive showcase list on the Classipress homepage which shows you how people use this wordpress theme.

This theme is not free, however it costs only 49US$ and that is for such a great theme (and possibly a good moneymaker for you) very fair. Go over to Classipress and GRAB YOUR COPY!

• Akismet >> The most common spam fighter plugin. It comes already shipped with wordpress, you just have to get your API-key on wordpress.com and you’re done. This plugins works great for my sites, on some of them I get more them 200 comment spam a day, and just imagine how much time you save by turning this plugin on and not have to go to such a lot of comments to find a few good ones.
• Digg This Reloaded >> This simple plugin adds a “Digg this” button/link to the post. Easy configuration, no need to edit the theme files. This plugin has to be on my list, I’m a “digg” addicted!
• Feedburner Feed Replacement >> This plugin forwards all feed traffic to feedburner.com, where you can get a lot of statistic about your feed readers. A plugin for a statistic addicted like me.
• Google XML Sitempaps >> This plugin creates a sitempas.org compliant sitemap of your whole wordpress site. Sitemaps are supported by Google, MSN Live Search and Yahoo and one of the key factors to get traffic from search engines to your sites. This plugin is pretty straightforward to use, nearly no configuration needed, the sitemaps are generated on the fly.
• Google Analyticator >> A simple plugin which adds the needed javascript code for the google analytics statistic tracking service. Nice configuration page, you just have to copy and paste yout Analytics UID and your pages are ready to be analized.
• Installer >> This is not a very famous plugin, but I love it so much. This is a one click installer plugin for plugins and themes, sounds a bit confusing, but the usage is so straightforward that you can’t do wrong. And the best is, you can search right from your plugins page on wp-plugins.net for new plugins and install them with one click! And a great (but yet not much useful option) is the “Update plugin” option, which installs updates for your plugin if you’ve them installed using Installer. Obviously, always if the plugin author is using some syntax definition in there plugin description.
• Related Posts >> This plugin can show related posts for the post entry you’re reading. It’s using a keyword list to find related entries. It seems that the developer is not longer supporting this plugin.
• Sidebar Widgets >> If you’re using a widget enabled theme, then you definitely want this plugin. This plugin adds the “Sidebar Widgets” option under the Presentation menu where you can drag and drop your sidebar(s).
• Tags in the head >> A simple plugin to use UTW tags as meta keyword to get some more search engine friendly posts.
• the_excerpt Reloaded >> When a post does not contain an excerpt, this plugin displays the content of the post, which can be customized on the length and filtering type. You must call the function in your theme, so this plugin requires a bit of modification of your theme file.
• Tidy Up >> This plugin runs a HTML Tidy on all of your posts and comments. You need this plugin, if you want to create XHTML complaint web sites. A good administration web page, but not always that easy to use.
• Ultimate Tag Warrior >> A must have plugin. Tag your posts, create tag clouds, create links to flickr, technorati and a lot more. This plugin is so easy to use, and so much worth. You can’t run a blog without this plugin.
• WP-PostViews >> Enables you to display how many times a post had been viewed. A nice gimmick.
• WP Admin Bar 2 >> This plugin adds a small admin bar to the top of every page (you probably know it already if you have an account on wordpress.com).
• Youtube >> A sma ll plugin which adds a filter for displaying youtube videos in your posts.
• zooomr_RSS >> Well, this is the plugin I created for displaying photos from a zooomr rss feed. It is based on the flickrRSS plugin, similar option page, and if you’ve a widget enabled site you can set it up even without the need of modifying your theme files.

This plugin allows you to show your most recent photos published on zooomr or to show the most recent public photos on zooomr. This plugin is base on flickrRSS, but as zooomr doesn’t support all features of the flickr RSS feed, there are a few limitations. Full cache support is enabled in this release as well.

Installation:

1. Download the plugin first

2. Unzip the downloaded file and upload zooomr_RSS.php to your wordpress plugin directory.

3. Go to your Administration panel and activate the plugin.

4. Configure the settings via the Options->zooomr_RSS panel.

5. Put <?php get_zooomr_RSS(); ?> where you want to have the images displayed.

6. If you’re using a widgets enabled theme, then just use the zooomr_RSS widget and you’re done!

FAQ:

1. Is there a way to get random images from the script?

No, the zooomrRSS feed only gives you your last 20 photos.

2. I’ve seen I can get images with certain tags with flickrRSS from flickr? Why don’t you support this?

It’s a limitation of zooomr, sorry. You can’t select directly by tag, but you can do it by making a workaround from the feed. This will be integrated in a future version.

3. What’s my zooomr id?
Your zooomr id is the part after “http://beta.zooomr.com/photos/”, so in case after you log in your photo site appears on “http://beta.zooomr.com/photos/10131@Z01″, then your zooomr id is “10131@Z01″.

4. Can I get support somewhere?

Advanced:

There are a few parameters which you can pass to the function call:

1. $num_items – how many photos you want to appear

2. $type – specify user or public

3. $imagesize – specify square, thumbnail, medium or large

4. $before_image – html appearing before each photo

5. $after_image – html appearing after each photo

6. $userid – specify a userid

Example 1:

<?php get_zooomr_RSS(10, "user", "", "medium", "", "hmorandell"); ?>

This would show the 10 most recent photos of the user hmorandell as a thumbnail.

Example 2:

<?php get_zooomr_RSS(5, "public", "", "", "<li>", "</li>"); ?>

This would show the 5 most recent medium sized public photos , wrapped in list tags.
